| Description: | The Prince George’s County Public School’s Technology Training Team launched, in the 2007-2008 year, the Sharing Technology with Educators Program (STEP), designed to build capacity for instructional technology use in our schools with a focus of supporting and enhancing student achievement. At the start of this school year twenty-two schools were selected for this year’s program, nine of which were returning schools. All teams received training on Web 2.0 tools including Wikis, Blogs and VoiceThread. In addition, schools new to the program received document and digital cameras, as well as training on how to incorporate them into instruction. Training was delivered by the Technology Training Team. Through careful planning and collaboration, school teams integrated STEP resources into regular classroom routines. To date, 42 schools and over 220 teachers and administrators have benefitted through receiving tools and training on how to use technology to meet instructional goals through STEP. |

The "Share" section is full of information about many countries, cultures, schools, etc. There are also many group projects that participants can choose to join as their schedules allow.
"Global Dreamers" inspires children to take a deeper look at the world by exploring, exchanging ideas, and using research tools. It supports a positive learning environment and a shared learning experience. By inviting the participation of children from around the globe, it supports the fight against the Digital Divide. In addition, it aims to encourage cross-cultural communication and to promote global understanding, while helping children to expand their knowledge and supporting the innovative use of new technologies in education. Above all, it attempts to create a more tolerant individual in a multicultural society. We believe that by understanding and learning about others, children can face a better world."){kind=small}

Her mission has been to tie physical activity to the K-12 learning environment while harnessing the expertise and energy of the most challenged students to lead and manage the programs The results were what brain researchers told us all along - physical activity prepares the brain to learn and generates cognitive success for learners. Teachers are busy and I knew if we were to really change the paradigm from "kids learn best when they are in desks and focused on a task."
Designing a synthesis of education and fitness that dramatically impacts youth fitness and academic success, began with the popular, innovative program: Generation FIT ®. Brain research and technology caught up with that mission over the past three years. Shasek developed the patented FootPOWR peripheral (with brilliant Kevin Colburn of 3D Innovations) in order to provide âexergameâ benefits to thousands of existing computer games, casual games, virtual worlds and educational software. The resulting computer peripheral ties physical activity to computer use at home and in schools. Being actively engaged, while standing and balancing and playing a casual game, forces one to use the brain in multiple ways. Listen and learn the bits of wisdom that can be gleaned from the students, if we only dare to ask them. Students from The Elisabeth Morrow School Tech Club contributed machinima created in Quest Atlantis. Marianne Malmstrom (aka Knowclue) worked remotely with the students of Suffern to create machinima of their avatars.
